“I have a very close friend – Timmy – she’s been my friend since I moved here. We raised our kids together. She’s not necessarily always nice to me, but when I would be struggling in any decision, thinking whether I should do something or not, she would make it really simple. She’s not necessarily always cooing or pampering me. She’ll say, ‘You got to do it.’ Or other times she’ll say, ‘That’s bull****.’ She’ll say something simple that will make me laugh, and help me to move on- not to lose sleep over that thought. My mom is almost at the end of her cancer struggle in Korea. So I asked Timmy, ‘Should I visit her?’ She said, ‘whatever you do you will regret. What the hell, just go.’ And when my dog died, she told me, ‘You know, your dog had the best owner.’ That kind of support made me feel settled and gave me an answer in life.”
